  • It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment
  • For the first time in the history of the world, every human being is now subjected to contact with dangerous chemicals, from the moment of conception until death
  • If civilization is to survive, it must live on the interest, not the capital, of nature
  • We are such spendthrifts with our lives, the trick of living is to slip on and off the planet with the least fuss you can muster. I?m not running for sainthood. I just happen to think that in life we

  • I really wonder what gives us the right to wreck this poor planet of ours
  • Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect
  • The global economy is a doomsday machine that must be stopped and reprogrammed
  • The economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment, not the reverse
  • Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better
  • Plans to protect air and water, wilderness and wildlife, are in fact plans to protect man
  • Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed
  • We are being made aware that the organization of society on the principle of private profit, as well as public destruction, is leading both to the deformation of humanity by unregulated industrialism,
  • A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children

  • We shall never understand the natural environment until we see it as a living organism. Today you can murder land for private profit. You can leave the corpse for all to see and nobody calls the cops
  • An understanding of the natural world and what?s in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfilment
  • Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can l

  • We're running the most dangerous experiment in history right now, which is to see how much carbon dioxide the atmosphere... can handle before there is an environmental catastrophe
  • A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people
